About Digital Imaging Laboratory

What we are

The Digital Imaging Laboratory (DIL) features state-of-the-art equipment for collecting 3D data as well as data post-processing software and computers to meet the hands-on training needs of students.

What we have

The DIL is equipped with a comprehensive array of cutting-edge technological resources to support its teaching and learning objectives. These resources include:

Interactive Learning Zone

The DIL provides students with a space for idea sharing and discussion. Students can use equipment like 3D scanners on their laptops and sit in a circle for group discussions.

3D Data Workstation Zone

The DIL offers a data processing area where students can use high-end desktops to handle complex 3D data, including modeling and scanning.

Available Equipment

3D Scanners

The DIL provides 3D scanners that capture detailed and accurate three-dimensional images of objects. This allows students to explore 3D data processing. Users can capture intricate details, textures, and shapes of various objects with precision, and also capture color information for realistic and vibrant 3D representations.

Cameras

The DIL is equipped with various camera options, including digital and action cameras. These cameras capture high-quality images and videos with precise depth perception and accurate 3D data using advanced sensors and lenses. The 3D data can be used to create detailed models of objects, environments, and human subjects, and for applications such as virtual reality, augmented reality, and 3D print prototypes.

High-end Computers and Applications

The DIL ensures students have access to cutting-edge technology to support their academic and professional endeavors. The high-end desktops and laptops in the 3D Data Workstation Zone are equipped with applications for 3D data processing, 3D modeling, multimedia editing, and software development. Students can use these resources for their coursework, projects, and presentations.

3D Printers

The 3D printers in the DIL work seamlessly with 3D scanners and cameras. This allows students to capture real-world objects, transform them into digital models with their designs and ideas, and bring these models to life.

VR Devices

Virtual Reality (VR) equipment in the DIL allows students to create and explore immersive environments, resembling traveling through time and space and experiencing events from different eras and locations. This fosters a deeper understanding of various events and time periods, enhancing their learning.

Where we are

The DIL is located at:

6/F, Library Complex, Hong Kong Shue Yan University,

12 Wai Tsui Crescent, Braemar Hill,
